10 April 2018

Old Fintonian and Fintona's current running coach Georgia Griffith ('14) is representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games. On Monday night, Georgia competed in the 1500m heat and came second running her personal best time of 4.06.41 seconds to qualify second overall behind reigning 800m Olympic and world champion Caster Semenya, who was in cruise control with 4.05.86 in the first heat.

In the final of the Women’s 1500m last night, Georgia ran a clever tactical race to finish in a commendable fifth place, recording a personal best time of 4.04.17.

On Friday 13 April, Georgia will be competing in the 800m and will be up against Semenya once again. Georgia is the fastest Australian woman over 800m.

The Fintona community is very proud of Georgia's amazing athletic achievements and her commitment to represent her country at such an elite level.
