On the weekend of March 24th-25th, the Cancer Council ran the Hawthorn Relay for Life, raising funds for cancer research and prevention. A large group of Fintona staff and students enthusiastically walked from 4pm on the Saturday to 10am on the Sunday, and we had someone from our team carrying the baton the entire time! The Fintona team was able to raise $12,000 and the whole event, a total of $118,000. There were lots of tired girls and sore legs on the night, but also lots of love and support for such an amazing cause. Many families in our community have been touched by the horrible news of a cancer diagnosis and by fundraising, we are hoping to lower the number of those who become affected by cancer in the future. We would like to thank everyone for all their generous donations and for coming to the event. Also, a huge thank you to Ms Falloon for letting us have a team and to the teachers for their help and support! A special thank you also to Mr Williams and Mr Bourke who braved the wet weather on Saturday morning and helped us set up Fintona's camp site. We hope you all enjoyed the event!
