This year, Shakespeare’s plays are being studied by all English classes in Years 9 to 11. Shakespeare Day began modestly at the School in the 1930s, with students reading sonnets in a special Assembly to celebrate the poet’s birthday. This quickly became a tradition which evolved into performances; scenes from various plays being staged in the Tourmont Courtyard, or Quadrangle as some past students call it. The event remains one of the School’s most memorable features.
