With over two decades of experience as an educator in leading independent schools in Victoria and Western Australia, Rachael was very well qualified and equipped to take on the Principalship of Fintona in 2018. Since then, she has made her mark and impressed the School community with her leadership.
As a teacher of mathematics, Rachael began her career at St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School and went on to head the Mathematics Department as well as taking on the additional role of Year Level Coordinator. A move to Western Australia saw her teaching mathematics at Guildford Grammar, where she added Head of Stirling House, Acting Senior Master and later, the inaugural Senior Head of House to her list of titles, while leading the student care program across the school.
On her return to Melbourne and prior to coming to Fintona, Rachael held a senior executive role at Camberwell Grammar School as Deputy Head. In all three schools, she had been strongly involved in the outdoor education, sporting, and cultural programs.
Since her arrival at Fintona, Rachael has streamlined systems and practices, introduced and embedded technology platforms to support pastoral care and objectives, has continued her love of teaching mathematics, and has worked with the School community through major events and building projects. Her skills encompass many disciplines including pastoral care and wellbeing, curriculum development, administration and operations, strategy, and leadership.
Rachael has a passion for developing others, prides herself on connection with those in the communities in which she works, and strives to provide rich experiences for students beyond the classroom. She sets high standards for herself and others and likes the acquisition of knowledge through action, being involved, and enabling others to see life and learning through a broad lens.
