Literature students meet award winning author Maxine Beneba Clarke

22 March 2019

Bursting onto the Australian literary scene in 2013 after winning the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an unpublished manuscript, Maxine Beneba Clarke has since published a memoir, three children’s picture books, a poetry collection and ‘Foreign Soil’, a book of 10 short stories which is one of our Literature texts this year. On Thursday, suitably the International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the State library hosted a VCE night with Clarke and our Year 12 Literature students headed excitedly into the city to attend.

‘Foreign Soil’ is used as impetus for the girls to write their own fiction and have now begun storyboarding the first buds of ideas. I can’t wait to see what they can create.
